Scientists believe cannabis could help prevent and treat coronavirus

They have high hopes for a coronavirus breakthrough.  A team of Canadian scientists believes it has found strong strains of cannabis that could help prevent or treat coronavirus infections, according to interviews and a study.  Researchers from the University of Lethbridge said a study in April showed at least 13 cannabis plants were high in CBD that appeared to affect the ACE2 pathways that the bug uses to access the body.  “We were totally stunned at first, and then we were really happy,” one of the researchers, Olga Kovalchuk, told CTV News.  The results, printed in online journal Preprints, indicated hemp extracts high in CBD may help block proteins that provide a “gateway” for COVID-19 to enter host cells.  Kovalchuk’s husband, Igor, suggested cannabis could reduce the virus’ entry points by up to 70 percent. “Therefore, you have more chance to fight it,” he told CTV.  “Our work could have a huge influence — there aren’t many drugs that have the potential of reducing infection by 70 to 80 percent,” he told the Calgary Herald.  While they stressed that more research was needed, the study gave hope that the cannabis, if proven to modulate the enzyme, “may prove a plausible strategy for decreasing disease susceptibility” as well as “become a useful and safe addition to the treatment of COVID-19 as an adjunct therapy.”  Cannabis could even be used to “develop easy-to-use preventative treatments in the form of mouthwash and throat gargle products,” the study suggested, with a “potential to decrease viral entry” through the mouth. “The key thing is not that any cannabis you would pick up at the store will do the trick,” Olga told CTV, with the study suggesting just a handful of more than 800 varieties of sativa seemed to help.  All were high in anti-inflammatory CBD — but low in THC, the part that produces the cannabis high.  The study, which has yet to be peer-reviewed, was carried out in partnership with Pathway Rx, a cannabis therapy research company, and Swysh Inc., a cannabinoid-based research company.  The researchers are seeking funding to continue their efforts to support scientific initiatives to address COVID-19.  “While our most effective extracts require further large-scale validation, our study is crucial for the future analysis of the effects of medical cannabis on COVID-19,” the research said.  “Given the current dire and rapidly evolving epidemiological situation, every possible therapeutic opportunity and avenue must be considered.”

How to Get the Right Dosage for Vaping CBD

About CBD

CBD is among the many extracts that come from a cannabis plant, which is gaining popularity for its analgesic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety benefits.

However, one of the most distressing concerns that CBD users often grapple with is finding the right CBD dosage. But is there any such thing as an ideal CBD dose? Read on to find out.

Is There An Ideal CBD Dosage?

Right off the bat, let’s state that there’s no universal CBD dosage, which is both good and bad news. The bad news is that there being no standard dosage, finding the right dose for you isn’t a walk in the park.

The good news is that you don’t have to worry about the risks of addiction and dependency. According to this 2018 report, it’s impossible to overdose on medical marijuana. And since legal CBD is derived from hemp, it simply implies that you cannot overdose on CBD either.

Factors to Consider When Finding the Right CBD Dosage for You

The following are some of the factors to consider when deciding on the ideal CBD dose.

1.   Method of Delivery

Though our focus is on vaping, there are a few other ways users can introduce CBD into their systems.

These include;

Each of these modes of consumption comes with its own degree of bioavailability. Bioavailability refers to the amount of CBD content that gets absorbed into the bloodstream, and vaping boasts the highest bioavailability.

Higher bioavailability implies that you’ll require lower CBD doses to achieve maximum effects. In terms of bioavailability, a CBD vape juice contains between 40 – 50 % compared to tinctures that come with 20 – 30% bioavailability.

For instance, if you vape 20 mg of CBD, your body only utilizes between 8 and 10 mg of the substance.

2.   The Strength

The strength of CBD refers to the concentration of cannabidiol in a product. Now, this is a crucial area that most vapers often skimp on. The mere fact that a vape oil has CBD as one of its ingredients isn’t enough reason to purchase the product. Instead, you must go the extra mile and uncover how much CBD is in the product.

To do that, you must first acquaint yourself with some of the relevant terms that will enable you to determine the strength of CBD in an e-juice.

Some of these terms include;

Another thing to remember is that the concentration of CBD in a product is usually measured in milligrams. Most users often confuse CBD strength with the dosage. The latter implies the amount of CBD you should have per serving.

For instance, a 30 milliliters bottle of a CBD-based product could contain 1200 mg of CBD concentration, with 2 ml as the recommended serving. This means that each 2 ml serving contains about 80 mg of CBD.

The strength of CBD can also be viewed in terms of its quality. A product might contain a higher concentration of CBD but also feature certain impurities that affect how your body processes the inhaled vapor.

3.   Your Body Weight

This is a no-brainer. Heavier people require higher CBD dosages than lighter people. A person lighter than 130 pounds can use 11 mg of CBD or less for mild effects, and up to 17 mg for extreme effects. On the other hand, a user heavier than 230 pounds will require a minimum of 23 for mild effects and up to 45 for extreme effects.

Bodyweight also goes hand in hand with body chemistry, and experiments conducted by the King’s College London might help to put this into perspective.

Naturally, a person with a higher concentration or enhanced activity of endogenous cannabinoids may require lower doses to enjoy the benefits of CBD. On the flip side, if your immune system is generally compromised and your endogenous cannabinoids have to work overtime in restoring your normal body homeostasis, you’ll require a few more puffs of CBD.

4.   Reason for Use

This is yet another critical consideration when determining the right CBD dose. There are different reasons why you would vape CBD, including for pain relief, treating anxiety, reducing inflammation, etc.

The convention is that the milder the condition, the lower the CBD dose you should vape. If you are suffering from social anxiety, you might do well with 40 – 300 mg. The recommended dosage for epilepsy is between 200 and 300 mg of CBD, while people with sleep disorders can experiment with 40 – 160 mg.

5.   Quality of the Vape Device Used

Yes, you may not have seen this coming, but using poor quality vaporizers adversely affect your vaping experience.

To experiment with optimal CBD dosage, insist on a vape pen that comes with higher wattage. Also, regularly clean and examine the unit to ensure all the components are functioning as they should.

So, How Do I Find My Ideal CBD Dosage?

As there’s no standard dose, the convention is to begin small and work your way up till you reach the sweet spot. Also, remember that while there’s no overdose, you might still experience some side effects, especially if you are an erratic vaper.

Alcohol and Cannabis Ventures: Top 5 Legal Considerations

Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed a surge in the popularity of cannabis products. This, in part, is thanks to the growing list of studies that continue to highlight the numerous medicinal properties of the plant. Most of these studies have had a ripple effect across several countries around the world. Most notably, various authorities have relaxed their punitive regulations on the cultivation, sale, and use of cannabis products.

If you’re a trader who has been toying with the idea of starting an alcohol and cannabis venture, now is the time to take a leap into the lucrative industry. But remember, alcohol and cannabis ventures fall under business categories classified as high-risk. Therefore, it’s prudent that you carry out your due diligence instead of simply wading headlong into the industry.

In this post, we shall discuss some of the top legal considerations to keep in mind before starting an alcohol and cannabis venture.

1.  Cannabis Remains Illegal Under Federal Law

Up to 33 states in the US, as well as the District of Columbia, have legalized the use of cannabis for medical use. However, the substance is still classified as a Schedule 1 Drug at the federal level, and is, therefore, illegal. So, if you’re thinking of starting an alcohol and cannabis venture, there are certain facts that you must keep in mind.

First, federal officers might still raid your business, confiscate your assets, oreven bring lawsuits against you. While there’s a general trend among most states to legalize cannabis, the federal government appears to be working in the opposite direction. A case in point is what happened just four days after California started issuing its cannabis state licenses. The former Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, released a memo which rescinded all the previously released memos that guided the states on how to formulate cannabis laws within their jurisdictions.

What makes the prospect for cannabis and alcohol ventures even gloomier is that only recently, the President and Attorney General called for the death penalty for convicted drug dealers. Whether this will actually happen is doubtful.

2.  State and Local Licensing Is Mandatory for All Alcohol and Cannabis Ventures

You probably already know that you require a state-issued license to make, distribute, or sell alcohol products. The same applies to cannabis. The state of California has always been a trailblazer when it comes to issues pertaining to cannabis legalization. And in 2018, California began issuing licenses for both medical and recreational use of cannabis strains like shatter, weed budder etc. That made it possible to cultivate, manufacture, test, and distribute cannabis products.

Of course, the licenses are issued in line with the guidelines enshrined in the Medical and Adult Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA). You might want to acquaint yourself with the finer details of MAUCRSA to avoid any unpleasant surprises that may arise in the course of your business.

Also, you should remember that while the law permits alcohol vendors to also possess cannabis licenses, you cannot run the two businesses under the same premises. In fact, industry regulators are currently toying with the idea of prohibiting alcohol vendors from also acquiring cannabis license.

3.  The Thin Line Between Medical and Recreational Cannabis

Medical cannabis refers to cannabis products that are prescribed for the treatment of certain medical conditions. Recreational cannabis, also known as adult-use cannabis, involves the production or use of cannabis for recreational purposes. Any trader who wishes to venture into alcohol and cannabis businesses must understand these primary differences. That’s because legality varies depending on the intended use of a cannabis product.

It’s relatively easy to walk into a Canada marijuana dispensary and order medical marijuana, provided you have a valid marijuana card. On the other hand, purchasing cannabis for recreational use requires you to meet  more preconditions.

In the US, medical cannabis is legal in 33 states, including Washington D.C, while recreational cannabis is legal in 10 states and Washington D.C. Now, here’s where the line between medical and recreational cannabis gets blurrier. As an alcohol and cannabis vendor, it will be difficult to prove to the authorities that you deal in medical cannabis, which enjoys wider legalization status.

4.  Rohrabacher-Blumenauer Amendment Works In Favor of Cannabis and Alcohol Vendors

As we’ve mentioned above, Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a memorandum that rescinded previous memoranda that were considered friendlier towards cannabis cultivation, distribution, and sale at the state levels. The Jeff Sessions memorandum came as a massive blow to alcohol and cannabis industry stakeholders. It especially targeted The Cole Memorandum which was issued by the Barack Obama administration in 2013, asking prosecutors not to target cannabis and alcohol traders.

But even in the face of Sessions’s memo, the cannabis and alcohol industry is still somewhat protected. That’s thanks to a hands-off culture among most legal enforcement officers, particularly prosecutors. There’s also a congressional measure in place, known as the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment, which still offers a significant amount of protection to cannabis traders.

According to the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment, no federal funds shall be used to fund lawsuits brought against state-compliant cannabis businesses. It’s important to remember that directives by the federal government are still overriding in nature. However, initiatives such as the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment offer a glimmer of hope to an otherwise bleak situation.

5.  You’re Likely to Pay Higher Taxes

Cannabis is federally illegal, and you may be wondering where that leaves your business in terms of taxation. According to the Internal Revenue Service’s Section 280E, cannabis companies are prohibited from deducting ordinary business expenses out of their tax bills. What this means is that cannabis ventures pay higher taxes compared to federally-legal businesses.

The federal government will demand that you pay taxes depending on your gross as opposed to net income. In addition to these burdensome federal taxation policies, cannabis and alcohol ventures must also abide by the taxation plans in their respective states. In Washington, for example, the law requires cannabis businesses to pay 37% tax on all their sales.

To understand your tax obligations as an alcohol and cannabis businessperson, your best bet is to acquaint yourself with both the federal as well as the state taxation policies.

The alcohol and cannabis industry remains the most heavily-regulated ones. That’s why you’re encouraged to familiarize yourself with all the legal requirements in your jurisdiction before starting any of these ventures. And if you feel lost in all the legalese, you might consider hiring a lawyer.

HEMP THE NEW SOURCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

Industrial hemp, or homegrown cannabis, has properties that make it a source for producing biodiesel. There were worldwide push towards the use of sustainable energy sources to scale back the credence of harmful fossil fuels. This move has led to raising the amount of research into energy sources, and hemp has shown the potential to be one. Hemp has been used for years for food, medicine, textiles, paper, and other purposes around the world. Within the coming years, there is an honest chance that is powering up homes and vehicles.

How hemp is converted into fuel

Hemp biodiesel is formed using the oil extracted from crushed hemp seeds during a process referred to as transesterification. From a study, 97 percent of hemp oil was converted into bio diesel, which may be a higher rate of conversion than any biodiesel on the exchange. The hemp biodiesel also passed all lab tests. It even showed properties that suggest they are often used at a lower temp than any biodiesel. With more research and connection between different stakeholders within the global energy industry, it is not hard to see our planet where hemp biodiesel is going to be used everywhere by vehicle owners and homeowners trying to find a more sustainable source of energy. If all goes well, we will be ready to find a gasoline station where we will buy hemp biodiesel, albeit we are stranded within the middle of nowhere. It is safely transportable, so are often included during a car’s emergency kit.

Why hemp makes a perfect biofuel

Almost every sort of plant is often converted into biofuel, but what makes hemp a category above the remainder is its ability to grow in infertile soils. The present major biodiesel plants include food crops like olives, peanuts, soybeans, and rapeseed, all of which require fertile grounds to grow. Using these plants as biofuel means people would need to sacrifice fertile land for fuel production as against food production, which makes it unsustainable.

Hemp, on the other hand, can grow in an infertile area, leaving the high-quality land for crops. Hemp also requires less energy, water, and compost, making it one of the plants to grow. Hemp is additionally immune to drought, pests, and erosion, which suggests it can survive in most parts of the planet. The energy yield of hemp for biofuel creation is similar or superior to most energy crops, which strengthens its competitive position against maize, sugar beets, and other plants for solid biofuel production. With its high biomass yield and its ability to suit easily into existing crop rotations, hemp is predicted to enrich and exceed the different energy crops.

Although promising research shows the vast potential of hemp as an energy crop, it is up to governments and major stakeholders within the energy industry to try to do what must be done to make sure that folks can drive hemp-powered cars and sleep in hemp-powered homes within the near future.

Bio Energy

Bio Energy is the fastest-growing source of renewable energy. Farming energy crops on the arable ground can decrease yoke on depleting fossil resources, and it can mitigate global climate change.

However, some biofuel crops have adverse environmental effects: they use an excessive amount of water, displace people, and make more emissions than they save. This has led to a requirement for high-yielding energy crops with low environmental impact. Industrial hemp is claimed to be just that.

Enthusiasts are promoting the utilization of commercial hemp for producing bio energy for an extended time now. With its high biomass yield and its propriety to suit existing crop rotations, hemp could not only complement but exceed other energy crops.

Hemp originates from western Asia and India and from there spread around the globe. For hundreds of years, fibers were wont to make ropes, cloth, and paper, while cannabis seeds were used for protein-rich food and feed. Interest in hemp declined when other threads replaced hemp.

Abuse of the plant as a drug led to the ban of its farming by the United Nations in 1961. When the ban was revoked within the 1990s within the E.U., Canada, and later in Australia, used hemp emerged again.

The car industry’s interest in light fiber promoted its use. For such modern use, modern varieties with remote content of psychoactive compounds are grown. However, industrial hemp cultivation remains prohibited in some advanced countries like Norway and, therefore, the USA.

The energy use of commercial hemp is minimal today. There are few countries during which hemp has been commercialized as an energy crop. Sweden is one and features a small commercial production of hemp briquettes. Hemp briquettes are costlier than wood base but sell evenly well on regional markets.

Hemp on Large-scale energy use

Biogas production from hemp could compete from maize, commonly in cold climate regions like northern Europe and Canada. Ethanol production is feasible from the entire hemp plant, and biodiesel is often produced from the oil pressed from hemp seeds. Biodiesel from hemp seed oil has been shown to overall have a way lower impact than fossil diesel.

Indeed, the environmental benefits of hemp are praised highly, since hemp cultivation requires minimal amounts of pesticide. Since the plant shades the bottom quickly after sowing, they will outgrow weeds, a trait unusual especially for organic farmers. Still, a weed-free seedbed is required. Moreover, without nitrogen fertilization, hemp will not grow as vigorously as is usually suggested.

Agricultural Practice to Grow Hemp

Being an annual crop, hemp functions all right in crop rotations. Here it is going to function as an opportunity crop, reducing the occurrence of pests, particularly in cereal production. Farmers curious about farming energy crops are often hesitant about tying fields into the assembly of perennial energy crops like the willow. Thanks to the high self-tolerance of hemp, cultivation over two to 3 years within the same area does not cause significant biomass yield losses.

Small-scale production of briquettes from hemp has also proven feasible.

Before creating energy from the deposits, it is surely more environmentally friendly to use fibers, oils, or other compounds of hemp. Even energy within the fiber products is often used when the products become waste.

Recycling plant nutrients, like in biogas residue, can lower greenhouse emissions from crop production.

Sustainable energy production

Sustainable energy production is not easy, and a variety of crops is going to be needed. Industrial hemp isn’t the last word energy crop. Still, if grown on good soil with conventional fertilization, hemp can undoubtedly be an environmentally sound crop for bio energy production and other industrial uses also.

Growing cannabis is simpler than many other plants. The plant is efficient, bred to enhance quality, yield, stress tolerance, and decreased cost per ton. Furthermore, hemp overgrows while also requiring less energy and fertilizer and does not need chemicals after planting. It can even help the farm by cutting the disease cycle of other crops.

Cannabis seeds, often dropped, have the plant’s oils, which will become fuel. Researchers found hemp to provide viable qualities for producing diesel. Hemp biodiesel produced had a 97 percent conversion ability.

Guide to Using Essential Oils with Your Vape Pen

Do you use essential oils? Are you looking for an easy and discreet way to use it when you are out? Until a few years ago, the sole method of getting the benefits of essential oils was either rubbing it on your body or diffusing it. While they are certainly beneficial, you cannot reap its advantages when you are on the go. The latest trend in the vaping industry is using a portable vape pen to diffuse essential oils for you. A diffuser stick is a vape pen that allows you to use essential oils and get instant benefits and feel better. If you are planning to use your favorite essential oils with a vape pen, here is all you must know about it.

What is a vape?

A vape is an electronic device that allows you to smoke herbs or concentrates. Ideally, a vape consists of a battery, coil, and a tank that holds the material you wish to smoke. With the help of the battery and coil, the device heats the concentrate to a specific temperature to produce vapor. You can inhale the vapor produced by the award-winning 710 life enail to enjoy the benefits. You can vape e-juice containing nicotine, cannabis, or even essential oils.

What are essential oils?

While you might have been using essential oils in one form or the other, but do you know what they are? Essential oils, extracted from plants, are concentrated liquids containing volatile aroma compounds. They get their name from the fact that the oils contain the ‘essence’ of the aroma of different plants. The oils are essential because they have the essence of plants that can have many health benefits. The plants go through the distillation process to extract the essential oil. Some manufacturers can also use resin tapping, wax embedding, expression, or solvent extraction to get the essential oils.

Essential oils offer a myriad of benefits. You can find the oils in various cosmetic and skincare products, perfumes, house cleaning supplies, scents, and even in food and drinks as a flavor. Many people diffuse essential oils at home to make their surroundings smell pleasant. Aromatherapy is an alternative treatment that uses the aromatic compounds of essential oils to heal you. It can help alleviate pain, stress, nausea, and many other health issues.

Can you vape essential oils?

Let’s cut the chase and give you the answer that you have been looking for. Yes, you can vape essential oils. The vaporizer can heat the oil to a temperature where the oil starts producing vapor, and the aromatic compounds become activated. Upon inhaling the vapor, you also inhale the aromatic compounds which offer instant effects.

How can you do it?

Amid the plenty of vaping devices available on the market, there are specific devices known as ‘diffuser sticks’ that allow you to vape oils. If you already have a vaporizer that allows you to use concentrates, you can use it for vaping essential oils as well.

Once you have the device ready, the next important thing to consider is the essential oil you are going to vape. It is best to invest in pure high-grade essential oil to ensure that you get the best benefits. Substandard oils will have impurities that can make the oil unsafe for inhaling. You can pick an oil that suits your needs, or you can even get custom oils. Since all the essential oils have a different boiling point, it is vital to pick the right one as per the temperature your device uses. Picking any random oil for vaping without the knowledge about its boiling point can lead to burning the oil and reducing aromatic compounds.

Now that you have determined the right device and suitable essential oil, let’s get started. Since you are going to vape essential oil for the first time, it is best to start slow. Pick an essential oil that you have used before, take a few drops of it and inhale small puffs. It will help your body to get accustomed to the essential oil and then you can decide if you need to change the dosage or your inhaling patterns.

If you use vapes regularly, you might get the temptation to take long drags and fill your lungs with the vapor. But, what you might not know is that it can do more harm than good. Essential oils have plenty of positive effects on your body that come with their distinct aroma, but your body takes a longer time to open up to the scents. When it comes to inhaling the oils with aroma, it is best to take smaller drags slowly, to give your body the time to awaken the senses.

Are there any benefits?

Vaping essential oils have plenty of health benefits. While being a healthier alternative to nicotine vaping, essential oils can help you quit smoking or nicotine altogether. It helps make a holistic lifestyle change to get fit. Besides that, vaporizing is the fastest way to get the effects of aromatic compounds present in the oil. When you inhale the vapor containing aroma, it goes straight into your lungs. The bloodstream carries the molecules to the other parts of the body and provides you with its benefits.

Inhaling the essential oils can offer disinfection of the respiratory tract and decongestion. It also reaches the brain and provides relief from psychological ailments as well. The essential oils can help with blood pressure, stress, anxiety, memory, breathing, and even hormonal balance. You can make the most of the benefits of essential oils with the help of a vape pen.

The therapeutic properties of essential oils can restore the natural balance of your body and mind and keep you healthy. While vaping essential oils is relatively new, it’s benefits are making it the latest trend of the vaping industry. From lavender to sandalwood, from clove to peppermint, you can pick any essential oil that suits your needs and start vaping. Just make sure you have a suitable vape and don’t overheat it to enjoy the magical experience. But if you prefer smoking the herbs directly, you can opt for a genius pipe to smoke when you are on the go.

What are the Benefits of Vaping CBD?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, originates from the cannabis plant. It has an excellent reputation for its therapeutic benefits. With the legalization of CBD, people are now free to receive the many benefits of CBD. Many studies, done in recent years, suggest the various health benefits of CBD. Vaping CBD is one of the excellent ways of consuming CBD. Here are a few reasons why you should vape CBD.

  1. CBD Health benefits

Vaping CBD is one of the best ways to get all the health benefits of cannabis herb. CBD is popular for its healing properties, like helping with depression, stress, anxiety, arthritis, and cancer. Choose to vape over smoking for a healthier choice. Vaping ensures a fast intake of the goodness of CBD by vaporizing CBD vape oil, whereas smoking releases toxic gases that are harmful to your lungs. CBD is available in edible form in different flavors. The twisted extracts line of CBD is available in flavors like pineapple, mango, orange, and black cherry.

  1. Fast-Absorbing

The effects of vaping CBD are immediate as compared to oils and edibles. When you vape using a vape pen or CBD cartridge, you will start feeling its benefits take effect straight away. The compound absorbs directly into your bloodstream through your lungs instead of undergoing the complicated digestive route, and you start feeling relaxed and calm. You begin experiencing the effects of CBD after it reaches the bloodstream. Due to its fast-absorbing property, it is apt for pain-relieving and fighting anxiety issues.

  1. High Bio-Availability

Bio-availability of a product is the amount of a product that your body can absorb, and the rate of absorption into your bloodstream. It is essential to know CBD’s bioavailability to determine the right dosage of intake to get the desired results. Vaping CBD has a higher bioavailability as compared to other methods of ingestion. It means, when you inhale CBD using a vape pen, your body absorbs maximum compound efficiently and more quickly through the lungs. It binds to the right receptors of the endocannabinoid system. As a result, chances of overdose are minimal, and better absorption ensures more economical use of cannabis.

  1. Vaping is Discreet and Convenient

You can vape CBD at your convenience. All you need is a vape pen or a vaporizer and a vape juice. The vape pens used to heat oil are discreet and small. The common parts of the e-cigs and vape pens like a pre-filled cartridge, the mouthpiece, the heating element, and the battery are easy to operate. It is so easy to carry that you can comfortably accommodate it into your pocket. Also, vaping CBD gives you instant satisfaction. With the press of a button, you can instantly silence your cravings for CBD. Pre-filled vape mods with a charged battery are all you need for a quick and smooth vaping experience. Another aspect of convenience is the ability vaping provides of using cannabis discreetly. Since vaping is widely popular, people are unlikely to ask you questions about what you are inhaling. Unlike the traditional cigarettes that produce a strong odor while smoking, vaping CBD doesn’t, which makes it discreet. It also creates only vapor and nor smoke like cigarettes. Before planning to vape in public, do check for the rules and whether it’s legal in your state to vape in public. If not, choose to vape indoors safely.

  1. Eliminates the typical odors found with smoking

Contrary to popular belief that smoking CBD is better than smoking cigarettes, CBD smoking can have detrimental effects. It may be a great excuse to get rid of nicotine addiction, but if you consume CBD via smoking, then you also consume the toxic gases and carbon that are released due to the burning of the joint. The flavor of cannabis is also affected because of the burning odor of smoking a joint. Therefore, if you want to take CBD in an odorless manner, vaping CBD is a great idea. It is the purest way of taking CBD and eliminating any chance of burning odors. Smoking leaves tar and ash after combustion and leaves a bad smell in your mouth. Switching to vaping CBD gets rid of such odors and is excellent for your oral hygiene.

  1. Better control of input and output of CBD

Vaping gives you full control of your CBD dosage. The vape juice for CBD is available in a variety of concentrations. You can choose from THC-free juice to mildly psychoactive CBD vape juices. Not only the input of CBD in the vape mod, but you can also control the amount of CBD that actually enters your body. Compared to other modes of consuming CBD, vaping allows you to control the amount of vapor you inhale and thus gives you a safe way of consuming CBD. Small pod vapes give you low vapor consumption. However, if you want to show-off or if you are a cloud chaser, you can use the high powered mod. The vape accessories, such as the coil and airflow mouthpiece, allow you to fine-tune your CBD vaping experience.

  1. Flavors, Price and wide availability

Compared to CBD edibles or smoking CBD, vaping CBD comes with more variety of flavors to choose from. CBD vape juices come in a variety of flavors, including but not limited to fruits, desserts, beverages, menthol, foods, etc. Also, they are every day releasing new flavors of vape juices. Budget-wise also, vapes are pocket-friendly and come in a variety of prices starting from as low as ten dollars. Thus, you can comfortably vape CBD in different flavors, on a budget, and from anywhere.

Conclusion:

The above are a few of the reasons why you should vape CBD. Vaping CBD is a good alternative for people addicted to smoking and drugs. It helps reduce the dependence of morphine and heroin in people. Though CBD is generally safe for use, you must consult your doctor to be on the safer side. CBD can sometimes interact with other medications you are taking and might cause side effects like fatigue and diarrhea. Also, choose the right CBD vaping equipment to have a good experience. CBD DIY vape juice is convenient, as you can easily mix and match juices as per your taste.

Choosing the Right Parts for Your Vape

When it comes to vape, there are a ton of decisions to make. From picking the right device to choosing the correct parts and accessories, it can be quite tiresome even for seasoned users. Your entire vaping experience depends upon the choices that you make, which is getting more difficult by the day owing to the plethora of options available today. But the most challenging question that stands before vapers is to take a pick between an Atomizer, Cartomizer, and Clearomizer.

What are these devices?

All three are electric devices that connect to a battery or power supply that turns the vape liquid into vapor for you to inhale. In simpler words, all they do is atomize the vape juice into vapors. It heats the substrate to a temperature where it transforms into clouds of vapor that we see.

What brings all three devices together is that they all have a silica coil attached to the positive and negative posts present in them. The wick provides juice steadily to the coil, which heats the vape juice to turn it into vapor.  If you have just started vaping, you can easily get yourself a quality vape pen and vape juice from the best online dispensary Canada has to offer.

What is an atomizer?

The atomizer is one of the most traditional vaping devices. A majority of perfumes or liquid sprays had an atomizer in them. The atomizer uses a small gauge wire as the heating element that vaporizes the vape juice. It implies that the wire present in an atomizer connects the power supply and the circuit board. Upon hitting the power button, the power goes straight to the heating element of the gauge wire and also to the pump located within an atomizer.

The pump performs the task of sending vape juice to the heating element through the atomizer, where it turns into vapor. The process continues until the user will either release the button or stop sucking. The atomizer is an essential part of any device, be it two-piece vapes or three-piece vapes. Although their role is much more extensive in case of a three-piece vape, so if you are thinking of investing in it, pay close attention to the atomizer.

Why invest in an atomizer:

Why not invest in an atomizer:

What is a cartomizer?

Often called as the ‘extended atomizer’, a cartomizer is nothing but a longer cased atomizer that comes with the coil wrapped in poly-fil. Cartomizer is quite identical to the three-piece vaping device, so if you are familiar with it, getting a hold over a cartomizer will not be difficult. The conventional two-piece device includes a cartomizer and battery, which shows how important of a component it is.

What makes a cartomizer different from the atomizer is that they are longer and can hold much more e-juice. It ensures that the users get to enjoy uninterrupted vaping sessions. Besides that, the wick differs, for it is made with fliers or Poly-fil, instead of the conventional silica. A cartomizer also has a dual coil, which gives lower resistance and more vapor. With a cartomizer, it gets easier to know when the flavor starts fading, and the user can fill it again effortlessly. The filter comes out easily, and you can convert it into an atomizer and use it. Although cartomizers are easy to handle, smoking weed is still the easiest. You can grow yourself some weed, thanks to the recent laws, and enjoy quality marijuana. What is a clearomizer?

Clearomizer is the latest and also the most advanced product in the world of vaping. It usually comes in a cylindrical shape, in a clear glass tank. The clearomizer comes in various shapes, sizes, and configurations. Apart from giving a choice to the users, its ability to hold more vape juice makes it a favorite. It can hold 2.5 ml to 5 ml of e-juice, which is certainly more than that of an atomizer or cartomizer.

A clearomizer gets its name because it has a clear tank that allows smokers to keep a tab on the consumption of vape juice. This way, you will never have to bear the burnt taste of the flavor or dry hits. Although the chances of dry hits are too less, if you still get them, try tilting the tank to get the juice to the wick. In case of a majority of vapes, you are forced to discard the entire tank in case the coil wears down, or wick becomes dirty with vape juice. But, with a clearomizer, you get the option to make your coil or buy a pre-built one.

With clearomizer, vapers can also customize it to a great extent. You can alter the specifications as per your requirement. In other words, you can create your tank, by choosing the design, colors, size of the tank, resistance and even the type of wick. Pay more attention to the coil for it is responsible for making the vape work, and also the size of the tank.

Why invest in a Clearomizer:

Why not invest in a clearomizer:

Conclusion:

While each of these devices has its pros and cons, they all have created a niche for themselves. If we have to pick something among the three, we will go for atomizer and clearomizer. Cartomizers have become outdated, with only vapers who prefer hassle-free modes going for it. While clearomizers can suit the needs of both novices and pros, an atomizer is a right pick for more advanced users. If you are still not able to make up your mind, you can mail order marijuana and use cannabis the conventional way.

How Sugar Plays A Major Role In Growing Cannabis

In order to increase the number of buds you harvest, it’s important to ensure your cannabis plant has enough sugar. Let’s take a look at why sugar is so essential to the growth process, and how the cultivator can boost sugar production with various methods.

Growing cannabis isn’t a walk in a park. At least growing great cannabis isn’t. You need to know a lot of things to optimise the health and yield of your plant. One piece of information that is important to consider is the sugar level of your plant. This might seem like a strange variable, but it’s actually one of the biggest factors affecting cannabis growth, ultimately dictating the weight of your harvest. If a plant produces enough sugar and distributes it to the right places around its structure, you can expect a haul of fat buds.

Thus, it’s essential for growers to know how sugar is distributed around your plant, as well as how you, the grower, can boost sugar development.

NO SUGAR, NO CANNABIS

We’ve all heard of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a natural process conducted by all plants, in which sunlight is converted to, you guessed it, sugar.

There are a variety of ways to enhance this process and encourage greater sugar production. But it’s not just about adding supplements; sugars must reach the right places throughout the plant, with some areas requiring more than others.

The principle behind sugar distribution is called “sink strength” where sugar flows or “sinks” through its different organs. However, the speed of the flow varies, and the buds are the ones that need and receive most of the sugar.

Also, younger foliage requires more sugar because it is still growing. Meanwhile, the older and mature leaves need less. The unabsorbed sugar doesn’t go to waste though, as it is transferred to the young leaves.

This might sound like a straightforward process, but it really is quite complex. In fact, there’s a lot of competition going on as every part of the plant pulls whatever sugar they can get. The harder the pull, the more sugar goes into it. This means that the organs with stronger suction get more sugar.

We can calculate how efficiently sunlight is being converted to sugar by measuring carbohydrates (simple sugars) contained within the sap of cannabis leaves. The process may sound complicated, however, with a brief overview of brix levels and a cheap, straightforward instrument, novice and experienced cultivators can unlock invaluable growing prowess.

CALCULATING SUGAR USING BRIX LEVELS

Brix is the scientific term for measuring how much light bends when it passes through an object. Place any object into water and it appears to bend. In reality, the light outside the water travels at a higher speed than the light within the water. The difference in density of the two substances is what results in the optical illusion. By measuring the angle at which light travels through sap, it is possible to calculate the degree of refraction taking place. The brix level obtained via the use of a refractometer will give growers an indication of the sugar density of sap, and thus the strength of the plant.

Remember, higher sugar content means fatter buds, and a greater brix percentage is indicative of this. Although other compounds within sap will alter the angle at which light refracts, sugar—or in this case carbohydrates—are one of the largest molecules, and as a result, their effect on light is more dramatic than other, smaller molecules.

What to Consider When Buying a Vape Pen

Vape pens have come a long way over the past few years. Today, they are the ideal option for both cigarette and marijuana users. They offer discrete, ergonomic, and quality experience compared to traditional joints. Studies also indicate that vape pens, particularly e-cigarette pens, contain fewer carcinogens compared to regular cigarettes. There are several brands and models on the market, so finding a vape pen should be a dauntless task. However, finding the best pen will require a few considerations. Here is a brief look at five things to keep in mind when shopping for vape pens.

  1. Type of vape pen

The original vape pen designs suit cigarette smoking. However, modern vape pens are available for vaping various things. When getting a vape pen, it is essential to know precisely what you will use the instrument for. This way, you can narrow your search down to designs made for that specific use. A vape pen that features CBD cartridge is ideal for vaping CBD oil, but can also work with other vape oils and e-juice. Knowing what you want to vape will help you choose the right accessories. For instance, if you intend to vape dry herb, flowers, or other plant categories, you might also need to invest in a grinder.

  1. How the vape pen works

It is essential to know how your vape pen works. According to experts, most vape pens work in two ways to vaporize their content. The first and most popular heating method is conduction. In this method, the e-juice, concentrate or dry herb comes into direct contact with the heating source. Conduction method is perfect for concentrated and e-liquid. Because of the direct contact heating mechanism, your flowers and dry herbs will not burn evenly unless you stir it from time to time. Some designs perform better than others so you can compare different options.

The second heating mechanism is convection. This is a complicated method that involves drawing air, heating it, and filtering through the chamber. It applies heat indirectly to the contents of your vape pen. As such, pens that use conduction are generally expensive. They offer better heat control, even vaporization, and high-quality experience. These options are also perfect if you want to smoke flowers or dry herbs.

Another less popular heating method that is emerging is induction. This method passes heat through magnetic fields before applying it to the contents of your vape pen.

  1. The vaping experience

A lot of variables affect the vaping experience you will get from a vape pen. This includes factors like quality of what you are vaping, environment, vape pen usability, and performance. When choosing a vape pen, you should go through all the crucial aspects before making a purchase. Make sure you purchase your vaping product from reputable dispensaries. Vape pens come in various designs and specifications. Some start automatically when you draw, while others require one to press a button. Others have an automatic cut off. Pens also have different capacities so you should take note of how much content the cartridge tank can hold. This will depend on your vaping frequency and volume. You should also review the overall design, portability, ergonomics, and general sleekness of the vape pen.

  1. Battery life

Modern vape pens come with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Some designs require a proprietary 510 connection cable while most can use conventional USB chargers. Make sure you read the manufacturer’s instructions on charging and battery life. The battery should also be full before you start using your new vape pen. If you use your vape pen more often, you might need to carry a spare battery just in case the first one runs out of power.

Some pens can last long enough before you need to plug them. The duration will depend on battery size and capacity as well as the frequency of use. It is advisable to choose high-capacity batteries that can last a whole session before running out. Most designs will include information about battery life so you can start there and compare what other users are saying about the vape pen. 5. Size, safety, and portability

Size and portability are a matter of preference. If you want something discrete that easily fits in your pocket, you can consider the smaller vape pen sizes. They are generally ideal for vaping under wraps and can also offer amazing outdoor experiences. You can find desktop vape pens that provide incredible station experience. This is ideal if you like to vape in the comfort of your home. They are more conspicuous and offer the best vaping experience if you are using buds and dry herbs. The smaller discrete versions suit e-liquid and concentrate.

Nevertheless, there is no significant difference other than size, and your choice will largely depend on personal preferences. Safety concerns include the type of material used, mode of heating, quality of coils, and ergonomics. Studies indicate that vaping CBD can have potential medical benefits and fewer risks than conventional smoking. However, you need to use high-quality products that do not feature any harmful compounds that may combine with the vapor you are inhaling.

Conclusion

Choosing a vape pen should be an easy task considering all the technology and designs available on the market. It is recommendable to do a bit of online research before purchasing a vape pen. Choose credible, reputed retailers that can guarantee original quality vape pens from the manufacturer. More importantly, look up reviews and testimonials from actual users of the vape pen. This will give you more accurate insight than the promotional product descriptions you will find on the manufacturer’s website. When it comes to vape pens, there is no single fit for everyone. Therefore, you should outline your unique needs before heading to the market. This way, you will get the best model and quality for your specific vaping needs.

Your health status affects your physical and emotional well being. This means that if your body is not in good condition then its hard to stay productive. Although there is medication to curb various illnesses, some of them are not quite effective. But marijuana seems to be turning tables around. It is becoming the go-to medical drug that results in enormous success due to its ability to ease and cure different diseases.

Its success in the medical field is the reason why several countries are legalizing medical marijuana. Medical marijuana refers to the whole cannabis plant or extracts used to manage various health conditions. CBD and THC are the two main components linked to the medical applications of marijuana. CBD affects the brain without making you ‘high’ while THC offers pain-relieving properties while causing psychoactive effects. Medical marijuana contains a lower content of THC than recreational weed. Here are some of the advantages of using medical marijuana.

  1. Relieving Nausea

Some patients experience severe and chronic nausea that affects their quality of life. Nausea can be a single condition or caused by an underlying disorder. At times, prescription medications meant to treat an illness can also cause nausea. Irrespective of the cause of nausea, medical marijuana proves useful in treating nausea. The primary use of controlling nausea seems to originate from the receptors in the digestive tract and brain that produce serotonin. For example, medications work by blocking the nauseating effects from the release of serotonin.

Similarly, CBD interacts with serotonin to help alleviate vomiting and nausea. Furthermore, it helps to ease anxiety, which in turn allows patients to relax and manage chronic nausea. Studies show that medical marijuana has been useful primarily in oncology, where doctors use to manage nausea resulting from chemotherapy. Many physicians that don’t otherwise recommend weed now accept the use of medical cannabis for vomiting and nausea due to radiation or chemotherapy.

  1. Inflammation

At times, the immune system can trigger an inflammatory response when it detects a foreign substance, such as a virus in your body. Medical marijuana is effective in reducing inflammation and inflammation-related pain. Endocannabinoids produced in the human body are similar to marijuana cannabinoids, and therefore, they can also help to regulate inflammation. CBD and THC compounds prevent and treat inflammation by reducing the release and production of inflammatory substances.

To administer medical weed for inflammation, you can use inhalation, oral ingestion, topical, suppositories, sublingual or transdermal.

Topical marijuana products can help in managing skin conditions such as acne. Due to its inflammatory property, CBD from cannabis has soothing properties that reduce redness and diminishes breakouts. So, if you are suffering from skin conditions then you should consider getting CBD products for your body.

The legalization of medical marijuana enables victims of various illnesses to manage the conditions better. Based on findings from the researches, there is no doubt that medical marijuana offers an excellent alternative treatment approach for most conditions. Since it has no side effects or withdrawal symptoms, patients can use it at ease without worrying about safety. You can get high-quality marijuana Canada and the USA has to offer online and use it to alleviate your sicknesses.

  1. Pain Management

Doctors have long used medical marijuana to manage chronic pain. Pain control is, by far the most common use of marijuana. Although weed is not strong enough for severe pain, it can help to manage chronic pain that affects most people as they get older. Consumers prefer medical marijuana because it is safer than opiates and doesn’t have adverse side effects. It appears to reduce nerve pain resulting from multiple sclerosis as well as arthritic pain.  One article reports that medical marijuana can help to relieve neuropathic pain. When treating pain, the CBD content in medical cannabis interacts with the receptors in the endocannabinoid system that helps to regulate processes such as pain.

  1. Depression and Anxiety

Depression and anxiety can affect any person, and current medications come with side effects. It is for this reason that people are seeking alternative treatment methods such as medical weed. Marijuana manages depression and anxiety by stabilizing mood and restoring the normal functioning of the endocannabinoid system. Endocannabinoids control emotions, cognition, and behavior. Besides, they have a similar chemical composition to weed.

Anxiety or depression can suppress the production of endocannabinoids. Consuming cannabis may help to ease these symptoms. Due to this unique mode of action of weed, it is useful in addressing mental issues such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is also imperative to note that sleep can help to ease symptoms of depression and anxiety. Marijuana also interacts with the endocannabinoids to regulate sleep and allow you to enjoy quality sleep.

  1. Muscle Relaxant

Many people who have multiple sclerosis have to cope with cramping, aching, and stiff muscles. People with injuries in the spinal cord also suffer the same fate that limits their movement and interrupts sleep. Medical marijuana helps to relax muscles within the body with less dangerous side effects. Prescription muscle relaxants cause intense withdrawal symptoms, and this makes them difficult to use. Marijuana calms muscle spasticity allowing you to move at ease and sleep better.

Conclusion

The legalization of medical marijuana enables victims of various illnesses to manage the conditions better. Based on findings from the researches, there is no doubt that medical marijuana offers an excellent alternative treatment approach for most conditions. Since it has no side effects or withdrawal symptoms, patients can use it at ease without worrying about safety. You can get high-quality marijuana Canada and the USA has to offer online and use it to alleviate your sicknesses.

Importance of PPM Levels with Cannabis Cultivation

PPM (Parts Per Million) refers to the concentration of the particulates in your feeding solution.

From minerals found in tap water to natural elements found in your nutrients, your job is to make sure that the PPM levels in your watering solution are on point so you’re not under- or over-feeding your plants. While it’s an easy concept to understand on the surface, it’s a little more complicated when you have to adjust nutrient elements inside your grow room or grow tent

Now, pH plays a huge factor in PPM levels because even though you may have the correct PPM reading, some of the particles- and the concentration of those particles- can be harmful to your plants.

For example, let’s say your plants need to be at a PPM level of 700. You mix your solution and you get a PPM reading of 700 but your pH is around 4.5. That means that the majority of the available food for your plants is likely to have lots of heavy metals in it, which will quickly toxify the plant. You’ll need to adjust the pH level of your solution to make sure you’re not toxifying your plants.

“But won’t that throw my PPM levels off because you’re adding particles to your feeding solution?” It can, and that’s what’s so tricky about PPM and pH levels: When you adjust one you usually have to adjust the other, which can be simple or a huge pain depending on the water and nutrients you’re feeding your plants.

Common PPM Readings

These readings reflect the PPM your water should have at a given stage of growth

Adjusting pH Levels

When it comes to feeding plants there are two ways of looking at it: homemade or store-bought.

Same goes with balancing your pH: you can either purchase a pH buffer from a store or you can use ingredients you can find around your home or in the grocery store– but both come with their advantages and disadvantages.

Homemade pH Buffers

Premade pH Buffers

Be sure to check your pH levels because no matter how much you train your plants- like FIM’ing or using the Sea of Green method if your pH levels are left unchecked they will bring plant growth to a halt!

Adjusting PPM Levels

Before you start adjusting your PPM levels, you’ll first want to make sure your tap water is ready to feed your plants. That means you’ll want to adjust the PPM of your base water before you start feeding it to your plants.

Now, any time you add anything into your watering solution, you’ll be adding more particles into it, so keep an eye out on your PPM levels at all times.

PH Simply Put

Simply put: the right pH level will create an environment where your plants can absorb nutrients quickly and easily, leading to a better harvest.

Nutrient-rich water is filled with elements that are helpful to your plants. However, if those elements can be broken down properly those same elements can harm your plants.

pH levels are important to understand because the right level will determine the quality of helpful bacteria in your water that help break down elements, helping the metabolic rate of your plants. How? In two ways:

This change in properties is due to how acidic your water is or is not. You’ll want your plants’ nutrients to be a little acidic otherwise they can’t break down, but too much acidity and your nutrients can become toxic.

So Remember: pH too low= toxic to your plants, too high= growth decrease. That’s why you want to have the perfect level of acidity in your water, which will be around 5.5-6.0

Typical pH Levels

Note: Soil-grown plants tend to need a little bit higher of a pH than hydroponics because soil retains and releases certain elements to your plants at different times. However, both hydroponic and soil pH levels should stay within the same optimal range of 5.7-6.3 pH.

The perfect PH value for a cannabis plant

In the world of gardening, pH both affects and is affected by everything. Indeed, the entire process of growing plants is a study in the physical dance of pH balance.

So, you are on your way to growing great cannabis. Your seeds have sprouted, and a small cannabis plant is now eagerly growing. You have spent good money on quality nutrients, and have made sure to properly water and feed your precious plant baby. But something is wrong; you notice your plant appears sick. The leaves are getting discoloured and growth has come to a standstill. Before you know it, your plant is withering away, and you’re stumped as to how this could’ve possibly happened.

Among fatal flaws like overwatering and overfeeding, pH imbalances are one of the most common issues in the cannabis garden. To understand why pH is so important, let us first understand the concept in and of itself.

WHAT IS PH?

pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline something is. The pH scale ranges from 1–14, with a pH of 7 being neutral (the pH of pure water). If pH is lower than 7, a substance is considered acidic (think vinegar or lemon juice). If the pH is higher than 7, the substance is alkaline, as is the case with soaps, bleach, and ammonia.

In more scientific terms, pH level has to do with the concentration of hydrogen ions, say in the water you give to your plants. The pH scale is logarithmic to the base 10, which means that water with a pH of 6 is already 10x more acidic than water with a pH of 7.

WHY IS PH IMPORTANT WHEN GROWING CANNABIS?

As you will already know, all plants require nutrients for healthy growth. They require macronutrients nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as micronutrients and minerals including calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and a whole lot more. If plants cannot access these nutrients, it will lead to deficiencies and other serious health problems.

The issue with cannabis plants is that they are only able to take up nutrients within a small pH window, which ranges from about 6–7 when growing in soil. If the pH is lower or higher than that, the plant cannot take in nutrients, even if they are present—thus spurring nutrient deficiencies via “nutrient lockout”.

In those places where cannabis thrives in the wild, the soil is normally slightly acidic; therefore, homegrown cannabis plants will also prefer a slightly acidic environment. However, the way that you grow cannabis also plays a role in the optimal pH level for your plants. Cannabis grown hydroponically or without soil needs an even lower pH than a soil grow.

WHAT’S THE BEST PH FOR GROWING CANNABIS?

SOIL: 6.0–7.0 pH

If you grow in soil, the optimal pH level for the root zone is between 6.0 and 7.0. However, there is no set number within this range that is “best”. Instead, it can be good to allow for some natural fluctuation within this window to support optimal nutrient uptake. So as you adjust, try a slightly different reading each time. You can, for example, adjust your pH to 6.2 for one watering, then 6.6 the next. As long as it stays within 6.0–7.0, you should be fine. Soil is also more forgiving when it comes to pH imbalances, but it can only give so much.

If you grow purely organically—where you do not administer liquid nutrients—pH is less of an issue. If you’re using amended and composted soil with organic matter, the microorganisms within will make the nutrients more available to the roots. However, most growers using standard potting mixes and liquid nutrients will indeed have to reckon with pH.

HYDROPONICS AND SOIL-LESS: 5.7–6.3 pH

Hydro and soil-less grows are a different beast when it comes to pH. If you grow soil-less, say in coco, the optimal pH level at the root zone should be somewhat lower than in soil, between 5.5–6.5. The same goes for all methods of hydro.

With these methods, it is just as important that you allow the pH level to fluctuate across the acceptable range to support nutrient uptake. For example, in hydro, calcium and magnesium are mostly absorbed at pH levels above 6, while other nutrients like manganese prefer a slightly lower pH.

Then again, this shouldn’t be an issue since pH levels will naturally change slightly with each feeding in a hydroponic setup. You will only need to correct if the pH level exits the optimal 5.5–6.5 pH range.

When growing in coco, perlite, or hydroponically, you are in charge of administering nutrients directly to the root zone via the water, which means that huge pH fluctuations are more of a risk than in soil. The inert media used in hydro and soil-less grows merely retains water and provides support for the roots of your plants. So when administering nutrients, be careful that you don’t overload your plants.

HOW TO TEST PH

Managing pH level means testing the water or nutrient solution and adjusting it accordingly. This may sound complicated, but it really isn’t.

To test pH, you can use a digital pH meter, or a pH measurement kit with drops. Opinions here differ as to which method is “best”. Some prefer digital pH meters because they are accurate and easy to read, while others like the drops as they are super simple and don’t require calibration. Try them both and see which you prefer.

Measure the pH after you add any nutrients or amendments as they will change the pH value of your water. After you mix the solution, use the pH meter or drops to test the pH level. If you are growing hydroponically, test a sample from your water reservoir a few minutes after you add your nutrients.

HOW TO ADJUST PH

If the pH is out of the optimal range for your growing setup, it’s crucial you correct it. This can be done using “pH up” and “pH down” products, which you can obtain at any grow store. If your pH is too high, you will of course need to add some pH down, and vice versa.

Given the alkalinity of most tap water, most of the time you will probably need to lower your pH as opposed to raising it. This means you could potentially get by with just a bottle of pH down. Note that you will normally need very small amounts of these pH-adjusting products to see results. Add the required amount and then test your water with the meter or drops. When everything is in the clear, you can feed your plants.

Also keep in mind that changes in season and other factors affect the pH of your tap water. This means you shouldn’t assume that your nutrient solution is consistent with every feeding; instead, check it occasionally to make sure things are still as they should be.

Flushing Before Harvest – Quick Summary

1.) Wait until harvest window is almost open (how do I know when plants are close to harvest?)

How long should each type of grower flush their plants before harvest?

More info about each one in the full tutorial below!

2.) Water plants as normal, except with no nutrients or supplements

You’re going to do everything you normally do when it comes to watering, except without any additional nutrients or supplements. Don’t give more water at a time than normal, because this increases the chances of your plants getting overwatered and showing deficiencies/symptoms caused by that problem.

3.) Watch plants closely for signs of too much yellowing

During the flush before harvest, your plant can lose its green color very quickly. Although it’s normal to see some amount of yellowing before harvest, it’s important to harvest before the sugar leaves on the buds themselves have turned yellow. Although this doesn’t affect the quality of the buds, it does affect the appearance and buds aren’t as pretty. Additionally, once all the leaves have turned yellow your plant won’t really mature a whole lot more, and buds can start to deteriorate quickly.

4.) Harvest Your Plants

After the flushing period, your plants should appear a lot lighter than they did at the beginning. It’s time to harvest

The idea behind flushing is to let your cannabis plants “use up” any extra nutrients contained in the plant and buds. This way there is a much lower level of nutrients left over after harvest, and it’s those extra nutrients that can change the smell, taste or (most often) “smoothness” of your buds in a negative way.

So in soil or coco coir, the grower would give the plant just plain water for days or weeks before harvest time. This lets the plant use up the nutrients in the soil/coco, and then – theoretically – start leaching extra nutrients from the buds.

In a hydro or DWC setup, flushing is even easier. The grower simply replaces all the water in their reservoir with plain pH’ed water, and the plant doesn’t have access to any nutrients available except for what’s already in the plant.
